My formal degrees are in chemistry, physics, and mathematics, and I am able to provide expertise in any combination of these fields. I earned my B.S. in physics with a minor in mathematics from Augusta State University in Augusta, GA (Augusta University, since 2015) in May 2008. I moved to Tuscaloosa, AL in August 2008, and received my M.S. in 2012 and Ph.D. in 2015, both in physical chemistry from The University of Alabama.
I am comfortable performing in experimental or theoretical scientific environments. I have utilized research computing resources across multiple high-performance platforms. My background as an automotive technician is evidence of my mechanical aptitude, and complements my demonstrated computational skills to make me a well-rounded and useful scientist. My academic coursework provided me with understanding of advanced spectroscopic analytical methods, the ability to use software applications such as LabView to control laboratory equipment and generate meaningful data, and knowledge of a variety of methods for solid state surface and solution characterization. I also gained training with instrumentation as a teaching assistant for both general chemistry and physical chemistry labs. I have hands-on experience with TEM, XRD, XPS, AFM, NMR, ellipsometry, cyclic voltammetry, FTIR, and UV-VIS instrumentation. I have used high vacuum evaporation deposition and Langmuir-Blodgett thin films techniques to fabricate devices. I am able to safely operate all standard laboratory equipment. I am aware of chemical hygiene standards. My previous employment experience includes managing multiple eCommerce internet domains for a medical equipment company. I created an in-house system to integrate Paypal and Quickbooks with UPS, FedEx, and USPS shipping software, and my streamlined solution allowed us to increase order processing capacity sixfold. I administered product and customer databases, created original content, and optimized websites for maximum search engine visibility. I have some experience with digitally mastering book layouts and hard copy production. My experience with graphics and photography, coupled with ownership and management of multiple domains, has provided my the opportunity to understand the metrics used to gauge successful internet publication using a variety of available dashboards.
